The Piano Studio
Aspiring pianists receive a comprehensive musical education building on a solid foundation of technique accompanied by the cultivation of an expressive musical range. Our approach at the studio is a caring and nurturing one that seeks to develop each student’s musical potential in an environment that makes the well-being of each student a priority.
Private lessons are built around the needs and interests of the individual student, depending on whether they wish to prepare for examinations, for auditions or simply to play for pleasure.
Lessons are scheduled on a weekly basis and the duration of the lesson depends upon the age and ability of the student as determined by the artistic director.
For the young student who is new to the world of the piano, Inner Musician's innovative and inspiring Play a Story piano programme is an excellent way of developing a deep love of making music come alive on the piano while engaging each student's unqiue creative spirit. Using beautiful animations, music and other digital supporting materials, students are guided to discover the joys of playing the piano by appealing to their hearts and their imaginations first. Small group classes for children aged 5 - 7 years further encourage the development of musical friendships which thrive in a cooperative and supportive learning environment. New classes start in September. Email us for a consultation or to learn more.
Ensuring Musical Success
Success depends upon establishing a regular practice routine early on, as well as developing good playing habits from the start. Students are expected to have access to a well-maintained acoustic piano (or at the very least a piano-touch digital keyboard with piano-weighted keys) – ask your teacher for recommendations.
Parents of younger students may be invited to attend their child’s initial lessons to take notes to help with home practising and so that they can share in their child’s musical journey in a more meaningful way.
Students are given the opportunity to perform in two semi-annual studio concerts. These highly-anticipated concerts are very popular events at the academy and allow friends and family to join in celebrating the musical progress of each student over their time at the studio.
Preparation for Royal Conservatory of Music examinations and music festivals may be additional motivating goals for students who enjoy the extra challenge.Markham Music Academy / Thrive Music | 11A Joseph Street, Markham | T. 905 472 4195
